Hot Glue Jar

I didn't think about making a video for this until after I had already started so I took snap shots as I went. Hopefully it makes sense. Here we go...

First you will need some fabric (any color, I just used an old plaid curtain that I had), an old empty jar (I used a empty pickle jar), scissors, a hot glue gun, and something to set your gun on (as you can see I used a playstation game because it was closest to me, lol)

First you will need to measure and cut out your fabric for the lid. I laid the lid on top of my fabric and counted 8 lines out and cut a square. Next you will run hot glue around the rim of the lid. I made the mistake of going all the way around the lid at once and parts of it were already dry and I had to pick it off and start again. I suggest you do small dots and lay your fabric on and set it. Then once it is set in to place, add several other dots to hold fabric in to place. After the glue was completely dry I used the scissors to gun off the excess fabric. I didn't like the way it was hanging off, but this is just an optional step.

Then you will write a word on your jar using the glue. It's not easy writing with hot glue, so be patient and be prepared to pull the glue off and start again. I just chose the word LOVE since I wasn't sure what I was going to use the jar for.

Last, you will take the jar OUTSIDE, do NOT spray paint in your house, common sense, but just reminding you. :) Choose any color paint you want. I had black spray paint from spraying a patio table so that's what I used. I sprayed one pretty good layer and let it dry outside for a while and went back out later to add a second coat. After your second coat you should be good to go.

Bring the jar back inside, screw the lid on, and voila, you have a cute little nifty jar with many uses!

Some ideas for use: decoration, cotton balls, q-tips, ink pen holder, make up brush holder, buttons, etc.

Have a wonderful day!

A Fallen Hero

Tonight I write with a heavy heart. Yesterday a friend of mine received the devastating news that her husband had been killed in action in Afghanistan. A widow at the young age of only 22. Joshua Born had only been in Afghanistan about 7 weeks when an insurgent turned his gun on him and another soldier. Megan and Josh had two wonderful years together. I pray for the strength and peace of this beautiful young woman in the days ahead of her. She will bring her beloved soldier home tomorrow. I have very few words as I'm trying to write this post. I feel so broken hearted for her. I just hug my husband and I'm even more thankful now that he came home from his deployment safe. I can't imagine carrying on without him. Megan doesn't have to just imagine it, she now has to live it. Please, to all who read this, keep Megan and her family in your prayers during this devastating time of heartache. Never take anything for granted. RIP Joshua Born.

How to make a t-shirt scarf

This is my first craft video. It's not perfect and I don't have a video editor so you get to watch all the boring stuff, but here it is. I plan on making more videos in the future. They will get better, promise!

HOMECOMING 2012

In my attempt to keep up with my blog in November, I failed. So, here I am again, this time announcing the homecoming of my husband!

On January 27th, 2012, after 253 days, my sailor is back in my arms. This is a homecoming I don't think anyone is soon to forget. They were calling for rain, we got a freaking monsoon! We saw the ship, it was rounding the corner, everyone was screaming, crying, jumping up and down, waving flags and BOOM.... rain so hard it was blowing sideways! Everyone was soaking wet.. so much for that amazing appearance when you see your sailor, no way, not in this mess! We all ran and got back inside the tent. Mind you, this was about a 200 person tent. They decided they would bring the sailors to us.. in the tent. Can you can CROWDED?! But who cares! I got my sailor back and my photographer/friend managed to get some pictures even with the crowd of people.

We went to Illinois for two weeks and now we are back home in VA and he's back to work. I miss having him home all day everyday!

Hope this post finds everyone well!

Let's Play Catch Up

I haven't updated my blog since June. The month after Chris left. It's now November. Holy cow! Since Chris left I feel like I've been busy, but honestly, I don't think I have. I'll just do a month by month update! :)

July:
Paige and Nathan came to visit.
I was rear ended in Chris' truck.
I was admitted in to Langley Hospital for a ruptured ovarian cyst.
My sister and my dad came to visit for the first time since I've live in VA. We had a fantastic time. I wish they could have stayed longer!

August:
Michelle and I went to Illinois/Missouri.
I had emergency surgery in Carbondale, IL for severe endomtriosis, endometriomas, chocolate ovarian cysts, and a blocked fallopian tube.
I had my follow up appointment two weeks later and made the trip back to VA.

September:
I went to GREECE!!!! :) That's right! I went to see my amazing husband for ten days.
18 hour flight, but it was all worth it. I drove to Illinois (14 hours) all by myself to get my dog, and back!

October:
Pretty much sucked, I can't remember anything exciting that happened. My cousin turned 21 and I wasn't there to party it up with him. I went with my friend Chelsey to take her little boy trick or treating for Halloween.

November:
And now we're in the current. Yesterday I had a job interview, now we wait. I really hope I get it! :) Wish me luck! My sister in law is at the hospital having her baby as we speak. I'm about to be an Aunt! :)

I can't say how many days are left until Chris comes home, but let's just say I'm extremely ready for 2012 to roll around! I miss him so much! Oh and BTW, I'm no longer selling Scentsy. So if you need a new consultant, let me know.

One week down..

Yesterday made one week that Chris has been gone. A lot has happened since he left. Wait, that's a lie. Nothing has happened since he left. I've been bored out of my mind trying to do anything to stay busy. I mowed the yard and I took the trash cans to the street. I guess that's something. It's been an emotional week, no matter what angle I look at it from. I guess I have been a little busy, maybe. I finally unpacked the last two boxes that had stuff in them for the spare room and got the stuff hung on the walls. I've done some laundry, the dishes, cleaned the floors, watched a lot of TV and spent plenty of time at Michelles or swinging in my back yard. My sister is coming in a week though, I'm so excited about that! We've been in VA for over two years now and she hasn't been out to visit. That's all about to change! Yay! She's going to stay here for a week and then we're traveling back to Illinois together. I'm going to stay there for about two weeks and then head back to VA. Paige is tagging along for the ride back. :) June should be a pretty quick month to get through.. if only I didn't have like six months left after that. Boooooo. The best thing about going to Illinois is that I get to spend time with my Behong! I'm so excited. It's Mindy's birthday on the 27th of June so we are going to party hardy and have a grand time since we never get to see each other anymore. Another negative to the Navy. Anyway, just thought I'd give everyone a little bloggy blog to see how my life is. Counting down the days until he's back in my arms!

Missing you everyday and loving you with every beat of my heart. Your wifey and Cricky baby can't wait to see you when you!

Today..

Today was the day. The "See you later" day. The day where I have to start living OUR life on my own for the next several months. The day that I start counting down until I'm back in your arms. I love you Christopher Andrew. Hugs and kisses. I miss you already.

Watching you walk away is never easy but I can't wait to watch you walk right back in to my arms. I'll be waiting. I love you.

Fair winds and following seas. Be safe. See you soon.
